This year's Scholastic Book Fair was held on November 19th and ran through November 25th. The fair was a huge success with about $6300 worth of books earned for the library.
Without the book fair we wouldn't be able to buy many new books each year for our library. Most of the building budget allocated to the library pays for basic supplies, magazine subscriptions, and a few books.
We really appreciate the hard work of all our parent volunteers and the generosity of the Blackwell community!
A special thank you to Elaine Sawyer, our wonderful PTA book fair committee chairman. She did a great job organizing volunteers, sending out flyers, hosting the teacher preview, helping with sales, setting-up, and tearing down the book fair. Elaine was also responsible for organizing the author visit by Lee Fodi, who signed books during our Family Night.
Thanks to the many families who bought books to donate to the library and classroom collections, through the "Wish List" program. Your generosity and kindness is greatly appreciated.
Finally, thanks to PTA for hosting a special teacher preview with delicious goodies. The teachers enjoyed making their wish lists!
Due to the change in fall conferences next year, our 2009 book fair will be held: October 5th – 9th. Be sure to put it on your calendars.
