My name is Rick Burden and I’m the proud principal of Mark Twain Elementary. I feel very fortunate to have one of the most rewarding and meaningful jobs in the world: working with children, dedicated educators, parents and community members to prepare students to lead productive, successful and rewarding lives.
This is my tenth year as a principal in the Lake Washington School District and my third year at Mark Twain. Previous to that I taught special education in LSWD for eight years.
I am one of four brothers who grew up in Seattle and have lived here my entire life. I have a B.A. in Special Education from Seattle Pacific University and a M.Ed. in School Administration from Western Washington University.
I have a wonderful wife as well as two fabulous adult children who are currently attending college and working. During my spare time I love to read and spend time with my friends and family.
