 Meet our Administrators

Gary Moed - Principal

Gary Moed grew up in New York City and moved to Washington in 1993.  He graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.S. in Mathematics.  Gary worked as a Mathematics teacher and Assistant Principal in New York City prior to his move to the Seattle area.  Gary also holds an M.A. in Education from the City University of New York.

Gary’s philosophy of education centers on critical thinking and post-secondary education preparation for all students.  He also believes that a school should function as a single community.

Tim Hupperten - Associate Principal

Tim Hupperten graduated from Central Washington University with a B.A. in English and Special Education.  He started his teaching career in the Highline School District where he worked as a Special Education teacher at Sylvester Middle School.  After two years, Mr. Hupperten moved to Highline High School where he spent one year teaching students with special needs and five years teaching English.  While at Highline, Tim worked collaboratively with colleagues and administrators to forward building and district initiatives designed to improve student achievement.    In addition, he coached football, girls basketball and girls fast pitch softball.   In 2004, Mr. Hupperten earned his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Puget Sound.   He currently serves as a member of the Professional Education Advisory Board for the Counseling Department at UPS.

Gloria Heier - Associate Principal

Gloria Heier graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in mathematics and minors in psychology and physics.  She began teaching in Birmingham, Michigan and then moved to Washington.  She taught mathematics for three years at Kamiakin Junior High and then transferred to Juanita High School, where she has remained.  She earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from City University, completing her internship under Jane Todd at Juanita High School.  She feels fortunate to have been working as Assistant Principal of Juanita High School since 2005.

Mrs. Heier enjoys providing support for the growth and success of all members of the Juanita community.  She is married with two adult children – one who resides in Seattle and one who is currently serving in the Air Force in Frankfurt, Germany.  To unwind, Mrs. Heier enjoys spending lazy days in Chelan, Washington, water skiing, and entertaining friends.
