Hi there! My name is Jaime Maxie and I joined the Kamiakin family last year as a school counselor. In my role as a counselor, I am here to advocate for all Kamiakin students in providing the social, emotional, and behavioral support they need to be successful in school.

I grew up in a small town near Mt. St. Helens called Toledo. When I say “small” I mean population of 653 as of the 2000 census. J After graduating from high school, I moved on to another small town (yet bigger than my hometown), Ellensburg, Washington, where I earned a B.A. in Elementary Education with a Minor in Special Education. Upon graduating from Central Washington University, I moved to the Seattle area and got my first teaching job as a Special Education teacher. I spent my first four years in education teaching 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grade students with disabilities and the following four years teaching 6^th grade Language Arts, Social Studies, and Reading. During my first two years in Special Education, I also worked on earning a Master’s Degree in Guidance and School Counseling at City University, completing the degree in June of 2001. In October of 2006, I began the Educational Administration program at Western Washington University and will complete the program in June of 2009.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Rodney, and my 15 year-old step-daughter, Alexis. I also enjoy spending time with our family and friends, listening to music, going for walks, camping, playing the piano, scrapbooking, and surfing the internet.
